Last year I was so busy with planning our wedding that I didn't get to enjoy my yard. IN FACT I let all my plants die. So this year I decided to spend more time in my yard. I like to think I have a green thumb, BUT I also haven't been doing it very long. If I can keep them all alive until next year I plan on growing a vegetable garden next. BUT HERE IS WHAT I HAVE SO FAR...
I decided to dedicate this year to traveling -I promised myself it was the year to say YES. So when my friend Dey suggested this place she found on Groupon that was off of the Guadalupe River!
NO WAY COULD I HAVE SAID NO!
ALL I CAN SAY IS DO NOT BE SCARED TO GET GROUPON GETAWAYS!
AS A GIRL- The first thing I think is WHAT DO I WEAR!?!?!?!?!?!
Day 1. Day 2. Day 3. For our car ride and our stop in Austin Chill day On the road back home
Of course I am an over packer so I took more than this but this was the actual outfits I planned to wear.
On our way we stopped in Austin to get some VOODOO Donuts.
It was our first time and they were DELISH!!!!!
After the donuts we had to work them off so we stopped at Hamilton Pool in Dripping Springs, Tx.

Of course on roadtrips you need to make several stops...

The place was beautiful inside and out- the pictures do it no justice!
We had access to a dock where we would drink our morning coffee and fish...
Lets be real, I didn't fish! Instead I made my flower crown!

On our way home we stopped to see more of New Braunfels we strolled across the little boutiques and Farmers Market. It was a cute little town with lots of character.
Of course we stopped at the San Marcos outlets and then it was back on the road...
The way home was rainy and our 4 hour trip home became a 7 hour trip with all the stops we made but I wasn't too tired.

The more money you make the less you have to spend? If that doesn't make sense to you, let me explain. The more money you have the more places you want to go. When out you realize what's in so you want new clothes. When you get new clothes you want to show it off! SO YOU HAVE TO GO OUT. And then you also have the stuff you should really care about like to get a place to sleep, a car to go to these places in and with these things come bills, maintenance and gas. IT ALL ADS UP QUICKLY! Now if you like to travel.... your budget just got smaller. You can't travel if you spend all your money going to clubs the way most 20 year olds do... So here are some things I do when I am on a budget but still want to socialize.
-I could have used pictures off Pinterest but thought actual pictures would help you get to know me better since I am still new at this.
1.HIKING
I live in Texas! We have so many parks and hiking trails! It's fun to find new parks and new trails but once you've explored and know the park... You have to find a new one! Or go off the trails like Dey and I . We get scared when we hear any crunch & we usually don't get far before we're running back to the trails.
2.DRINK IN
Drinking out can get expensive but cheap wine is actually pretty effective. IT GETS THE JOB DONE & you can always stay over if you get too drunk
Normally when we go out as a group we buy rounds... (This could be up to $75.00- $100 each round) But when we drink at home (or at a friends house) The guys usually just bring 6,18 or 24 pack depending on how the week went. ITS ALOT CHEAPER & once again,,, EFFECTIVE.
3.MAKE SOMETHING YOU'VE PINTERESTED
If you're like me- YOU PINTEREST WHEN YOUR BORED. It's always fun to try new things and with things like Pinterest you might not even have to buy anything! You might already have everything you need . So this could literally cost nothing OR you could spend up to whatever your budget allows. (In this picture Dey is making Agua de Melon)
4.AT HOME SPA
Like most girls you might already have most of this stuff.... (Nail polish, face masks, pedicure supplies & Etc.) Have you and your girlfriends bring out their favorite colors and take turns painting each others nails. It's nice to pamper the people you love.
5.GET A PIERCING
If you're up for it. Why not? Some piercings can be as cheap as $20.
6. A GIRLS NIGHT OUT IS ALWAYS CHEAP
When you're a girl going out is always cheap. Especially in Austin, Bring out those heels!
7. MOVIES
Find a movie theater near you! Most movie theaters have specials during the week & tickets can be as low as $4.00.
Ruben and I have dedicated this year to traveling. But we
haven't been anywhere since our honeymoon in February, so Thursday night we
decided to join some friends on a road trip to San Antonio, Texas.
We got home from work, threw our clothes together y nos fuimos.
We had absolutely NO PLANS besides just going with the flow.
We went to the River Walk.... one word. BEAUTIFUL! The following picture
was early morning during my jog before everything opened. I definitely
recommend going to the river walk if you stop in San Antonio.
We walked around the city and decided to do the Ripley's
Believe It or Not package. It is kind of geared towards kids and is something I
would recommend for families but Ruben and I are children at heart and really
enjoyed it! It is literally on the street across the Alamo.
We wanted to do this the last time we went but did not have enough time. Glad
we didn't miss it this time!
What else is there to do on a Saturday night besides going
out and getting drunk? I mean we are in our twenties.... that's what were
supposed to do right? We went Downtown with no idea where to go so we just
walked around until we found On The Rocks Pub. Ruben (my husband) LUUUUUVS
PUBS! This place was perfect, we had planned to bar hop but had so much fun
here we stayed the whole night!

On our way home (a 4 and a half hour drive) we passed a
Snake Farm Zoo that Ruben suggested we go to next time. I looked at him and
said NEXT TIME!? Let me turn this car around! Why next time when we could go
now? The place looked like a whole in the wall Zoo in New Braunfels. None of my pictures
could do this place justice! They had a ton of snakes a petting Zoo and
surprisingly plenty of exotic animals. Admission was only 12 dollars and they
had cheap food for the petting zoo and even maggots for the chickens and other
animals. IT WAS VERY INTERACTIVE. I thought the Fort Worth Zoo was awesome
but this one had less animals but I felt was 10x's better for only having a few
animals. I would definitely be coming back once I have kids so they could feed
the animals. We got to see the Zoo-keepers feed the Hyenas, wolfs and Bobcats
from only feet away!
For My 20th Birthday Ruben and I planned a trip to Sea World
that we thought my family was going to join us on. Last minute my parents were
un-able to go but Ruben had already bought our tickets and got a hotel. My
parents told me I was not allowed to go anymore since they couldn't go. I WAS
NOT ABOUT TO DITCH RUBEN! He had already bought the tickets so I decided to go
anyways. During our trip my parents told me I was not able to come home and to
enjoy my honeymoon! WHAT THE HECK! I KNOW!!!! We enjoyed our trip and the night
I came home I moved in with Ruben and his parents! Six months later we decided
to get our own place and since then we have been living together,
we've got married and have 2 more years until our house is paid!
So San Antonio is a place we
have many memories in even though we have only gone twice together.
My family is not very religious. However, we celebrate most
Hallmark holidays because who doesn't want to find eggs with candy or money in
them? I know I do! The kids have an egg hunt with candy and the rest of
us have a money hunt... Some have up to $20.00 and others have nothing.
